Indian River Volleyball goes 1 - 1 in FSW Tournament

The Indian River State College volleyball team went 1-1 over the weekend falling to Florida Southwestern State College in three sets and then bouncing back with a 3-0 win over State College of Florida. With the split, the Pioneers are 11-7 overall.

 In Friday nights match against Florida Southwestern State College, Freshman Mallory Roney led the team with 10 kills and 2 block assists. Freshman Kaitlyn Chavarria  picked up 5 kills and 4 block assists and Erin Ergle had 20 assists in the loss.

 In the second match of the weekend against State College of Florida the Pioneers wasted little time in establishing dominance, winning by scores of 25-20, 25-16 and 25-18.

 Roney again led the Pioneers offensively, picking up 12 kills and 4 aces. Sophomore Caitlyn Leadabrand put together a strong match with 5 kills, a .625 hitting percentage, and 3 aces.

 Freshman Jasmine Sayre and Gabriella Fialova led the team defensively and contributed 12 digs each. Sophomore Jada Bivens had 33 assists and added 10 digs.

 The Pioneers next game will be at home on Oct. 8 at 5:30 p.m against Broward College.
