IRSC Wins Two in Santa Fe Tri Match

The Indian River women's volleyball team notched its 8th and 9th victories of the season at a tri-match hosted by Santa Fe State College in Gainesville on Saturday, September 14 bringing their overall record to 9-2.

 In their first match of the day, the Pioneers swept Florida Gateway College 3-0 (25-14, 25-10, 25-9). Sophomore outside Hitter Ayannah Henry led IRSC with 8 kills while freshman Jillian Bemis added 6 kills.

 In their second match of the day, the Pioneers outlasted Santa Fe State College 3-2 (25-14, 25-21, 19-25, 16-25, 16-14). It was a back and forth battle in which the Pionners won the first and second set, the Saints took the next two and IRSC ultimately prevailed 16-14 in game five.

 Tessa Raadsheer, a freshman outside hitter, led the charge in attack against the Saints, burying 17 kills and posting a .357 hitting percentage, while contributing 18 digs and 3 blocks.

 Freshman opposite hitter Mallory Roney tallied 13 kills and 14 digs of her own, while sophomore middle hitter Jacki Schmitz chipped in 10 kills and led the team with 5 blocks.  Setters Erin Ergle and Jada Bivins had 23 and 22 assists respectively.

 Defensively, IRSC was led by Freshman Libero Jasmine Sayre who joined the 25 dig club for the first time this season, finishing with 27 digs.

 The River looks to keep their winning streak alive in their first conference game Tuesday, September 17 against Broward State College.
