Pioneers Outlasted by Miami-Dade

Despite a hot start and a valiant effort, the Indian River State College Women's Volleyball team was outlasted by Miami-Dade College Wednesday night 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-15). In the first two sets, IRSC was able to take leads in the score multiple times and brought the fight to the Sharks, but in the end, Miami-Dade's presence at the net, both blocking and in attack, illustrated why they are the top-ranked team in the nation and have not lost a match in two seasons.

Four Pioneers- Sophomores Lindsay Glynn, Jenna Erwin, and McKenna Tyson; and Freshman Ayannah Henry- finished with five kills on the night. Middle Blocker Brittany Beckelheimer chipped in three kills without an error and hit .750, also stuffing the Miami-Dade attack twice.

Erwin led the Pioneer defense with eight digs, while Sophomore Libero Rebecca Sills contributed five.

The Pioneers showed a high level of energy and competitiveness on which they can build heading into their final conference tilt of the season; a home match against Broward College. IRSC looks to win the season series against Broward on Wednesday evening, which currently stands at 1-1.
