Pioneers Split Saturday Double-Header

 

The IRSC Women's Volleyball team split its trimatch Saturday, picking up a victory against Eastern Florida State College 3-1 (25-17, 24-26, 25-15, 25-23), and dropping their match against Hillsborough College 1-3 (24-26, 20-25, 25-23, 25-27). 

Against EFSC, Sophomore Outside Hitter Jenna Erwin led the way in attack for the Pioneers, landing 11 kills and 2 Aces. Sophomore Outside hitter McKenna Tyson and Freshman Ayannah Henry both finished with nine kills in support. Sophomore Middle Blocker Brittany Beckelheimer contributed eight kills while committing just one error en route to a .600 hitting percentage. Beckelheimer also finished with a match-high 5 blocks. 

Sophomore Libero Rebecca Sills finished with a match-high 21 digs, while Freshman Setter Jada Bivins contributed 12 digs to go with 17 assists. Freshman Setter Erin Ergle chipped in 21 assists and also buried a match-high seven service aces.

Against Hillsborough, the attacking front was led by Sophomore Opposite Lindsay Glynn, who tallied 16 kills. Erwin contributed 12 kills, and Beckelheimer had another efficient attack performance, going for 8 kills and only a single error, hitting .333.

 In this second match of the afternoon, Sills returned to the 25 dig club, finishing with 29, while Erwin defended 17 attacks. Bivins contributed 15 digs herself, to go along with 39 assists.

The Pioneers return to action Wednesday afternoon against the top team in the nation, Miami-Dade College.
