IRSC Falls to Top-Ranked Miami-Dade

IRSC Falls to Top-Ranked Miami-Dade

The Indian River State College Women's Volleyball team lost in straight sets (25-12, 25-12, and 25-23) Wednesday night to undefeated Miami-Dade College, who sits atop the Division 1 NJCAA national rankings.

After two tentatively played sets, IRSC returned to form and came up just short in a hotly contested third set, in which there were a plethora of tied-scores and lead changes.

The Pioneers were led in attack by sophomore outside hitter Jenna Erwin, who had a stellar third-set performance. She collected seven kills, five of them coming in that third set. Freshman outside Hitter Ayannah Henry and Sophomore McKenna Tyson

each contributed five kills in the effort. Sophomore Rebecca Sills led IRSC defensively with 11 digs, while Erwin added 6.

The Pioneers return to action next Wednesday against Broward College.
