IRSC Sweeps Palm Beach State in First Conference Match of Season

 

The Indian River State College Women's Volleyball team came out swinging Wednesday night, hitting .448 as a team in the first set and never looked back, as they swept Palm Beach State 3-0 (25-17, 25-23, 25-22).

The Pioneers were balanced in their attack, spreading the ball to their pin hitters throughout the match. Sophomore Outside Hitter Jenna Erwin, led the team with 10 kills on a .280 clip, while her counterpart, Sophomore McKenna Tyson produced 9 kills and hit .333 while landing five service aces. Sophomore Opposite hitter Lindsay Glynn had 8 put-aways from the right side, while Freshman Outside Ayannah Henry chipped in 5 important kills to help the Pioneers maintain momentum in crucial moments.

Freshman Setter Jada Bivens was able to catch the Palm Beach State defense sleeping on the second contact several times as she converted 5 setter dumps for kills for a .455 attack percentage, while dishing 31 assists.

The Pioneers showed a stout presence at the net as well, led by Sophomore Middle Blocker Jacki Schmitz, who finished with 7 blocks.

IRSC looks for its second home win in three days as they host Daytona State for an early afternoon match Friday.
