Indian River volleyball team traveled to Miami to continue Southern Conference play. The powerhouse, Miami Dade College, is currently ranked #1 in the nation and reigning NJCAA National Champions.  The Sharks came out playing like the best team in the nation as the Pioneers struggled to get their offense rolling. Dade took the first set 12-25.

The second set was a different story. Indian River fought tough in the first half and forced a Miami Dade timeout at 16-15. The ladies were battling back and forth with Miami and a couple big blocks helped gain momentum. After the timeout, the more experienced hosts took over the set and won 18-25.

Dade controlled the third set as they took the victory 14-25 winning the match in 3-straight sets.  Lindsay Glynn and Brittany Beckelheimer lead the team with 4 kills a piece on the night. Glynn and Sarah Egbers added 3 blocks each and McKenna Tyson added 5 blocks and 3 aces.

The volleyball team is now 4-7 and will continue Conference play next week. The Pioneers will be at home Wednesday, October 4th at 5:30 against Palm Beach State College. Come out and support the team as they look to fight for another conference win!
