IRSC Volleyball Suffers Two Losses

IRSC Volleyball Suffers Two Losses

Indian River traveled to Melbourne as Eastern Florida hosted the matches this weekend. The ladies were unable to pull out victories against #16 Santa Fe College and FSC-Jacksonville.

The Pioneers came against a well-polished Santa Fe team that did not make many mistakes. The girls fought tough in the first two sets and then the Saints took control of the third to beat the Pioneers in 3, 23-25, 21-25, 14-25. Kaira Smith and Lindsay Glynn both had 9 kills in the match and Smith added an ace and 6 digs. The efforts weren't enough as a very consistent Santa Fe team took the win.

In the second match of the day, Indian River was upended by a very scrappy Florida State College at Jacksonville team. The endless defense from FSCJ helped them to  defeat the River in four sets, 25-18, 25-27, 19-25, 16-25. Flavia Rostetter and Smith contributed 14 kills, 11 digs, and 1 block each. Jordan Shoemaker dished out 42 assists while also picking up 9 digs.

The Pioneers will be back in action this Thursday at home. These two losses drop the volleyball team to 3-4 on the season.  Come out and support Indian River as they will take on #14 Daytona State.
