Indian River State Volleyball drops two

The Indian River State volleyball team dropped two hard fought battles on Saturday.

They first saw Manatee, who edged out the Pioneers in the fifth set as the ladies lost 25-16, 22-25, 21-25, 25-20, 13-15. The defensive efforts weren't enough to pull off the wins. Freshman, Becca Sills was tough to beat on the defensive end as she racked up 27 digs in the match. Sophomore outsides, Kaira Smith (16 kills, 14 digs,  2 aces) and Flavia Rostetter (12 kills,  16 digs), and freshman right side, Lindsay Glynn (11 kills, 12 digs), and setter, Jordan Shoemaker (49 assists, 11 digs) were the key contributors for the match.

For the last match on the weekend, Indian River went up a very tough nationally ranked, Polk State. The Eagles were too much for the Pioneers as they were swept in three, 20-25, 14-25, 15-25.  The efforts of Rostetter (7 kills, 11 digs, 1 ace), Glynn (5 kills, 8 digs, 2 aces), and freshman McKenna Tyson (4 kills, 2 blocks) weren't enough to overpower Polk State.

The Pioneers are now 2-2 on the season and will travel to South Florida State College on Thursday.
