Volleyball starts off the school year with annual Blue Gold match

The Women's Volleyball team played their annual BLUE vs GOLD volleyball match Monday August 21st.  The match featured the 2017/18 Indian River State College volleyball team in its inter-squad debut. The Gold team under the direction of guest coach Vice President Frank Watkins made the match exciting pushing the first set into extra points and mounting an exciting comeback in set two after finding themselves down 22-14 late in the set.  However the comeback fell just short as the Blue team coached by IRSC President Dr. Ed Massey took the match in two sets 26-24, 25-22.

The Blue team was led by returning sophomore Kaira Smith who tallied 6 kills, and freshman right side Lindsay Glynn who chipped in 6 kills of her own.  Gold was led by Natalie Hoyos and Jenna Erwin who totaled 5 kills apiece.

IRSC opens its regular season this Friday at home vs Lake Sumter State College at 1pm as part of the East Coast Invitational tournament hosted by IRSC and EFSC. . Friday play continues at 3:30 and will wrap up the weekend matches Saturday at 12:00 and 2:30. We hope you come out and support the Blue and Gold this weekend!
