Women’s Basketball Win at Home

Saturday afternoon, Indian River State College women's basketball team host Miami Dade College in a Southern conference matchup. In the first quarter, the Pioneers outscored MDC 20 – 13. In the second quarter, the Pioneers struggle defensively giving up 19 points which cause their led to be cut to 8 points going into halftime.

In the third quarter, the River came out on fire outscoring MDC 25 – 13 increasing their led to 20 points going into the fourth quarter. The Pioneers would go on to win 83 – 63, earning their 17th win of the season.

The River had 5 players in double digits, Breanna Campbell led the River in scoring contributing 18 points nine rebounds and seven assists. Maryanne Logsdon added 16 points, seven assists and four rebounds. Tavi Habib added 13 points and five rebounds, Caylin Moment tallied 11 points and Shomari Phillips scored 10 points and four rebounds.

With the win the Pioneers are 17 – 8 on the year, 4 – 2 in conference play. Wednesday February 7th at 5:30 the Pioneers will host Hillsborough Community College.
