IR Women’s Basketball defeats Saint Petersburg College

Tuesday evening, Indian River State College Host Saint Petersburg College in a highly contested matchup. The Pioneers came out firing on all cylinders, jumping out to a 13 - 6 league forcing SPC to call a timeout. The River offense was electric tonight Maryanne Logsdon scored 8 points in the first quarter, she would go on to finish the game tallying 21 points, five rebounds and three steals.

The Pioneers defeated SPC 71 – 52, late in the fourth quarter their lead grew to 25 points. "Overall I am happy with the way we bounced back after losing a close one on the road. I felt like we came out with a chip on our shoulders which paid off for us in the end" Coach Robinson noted.

Freshmen Tavi Habib lead all scorers with 23 points, eight rebounds and four steals. Amarie Godwin added 12 points and Shomari Phillips contributed 11 points, three assists and rebounds.

The River will travel to Tallahassee This weekend to play against Monroe College on Friday at 4pm and TCC Saturday at 4pm.
