The River Women’s Basketball wins at Home

Wednesday evening in Fort Pierce, Indian River State College hosted ASA Miami. In what appeared to be a close game in the first half The River pulled away to win 100 – 61. With this win, Indian River Currently stand tied in third place for conference play. Wednesday evening the River overcame a slow start to cruise to their 13th win of the season. The Pioneers had five players in double digits, freshmen Maryanne Logsdon led all scorers with 24 points, six rebounds and four assist. Freshmen Akiyonna Joiner and Lateshia Edwards added 13 points apiece, Edwards was two rebounds shy of a double double. Freshmen Nyanna Williams came off the bench and contributed 11 points and seven steals. Sophomore Leah Dunn adds another double double to her resume with 11 points and 11 rebounds, Dunn contributed two assist, three steals and three blocks.

Coach Robinson noted, "We're at our best when we have multiple players in double digits, tonight was the first time we're scored 100 points. As a team, we had a season high off 17 assist and 19 steals. Overall, I am proud of our effort, it is always good to get back in the win column."

The River next matchup is a big test as they travel to Davie, FL on Saturday to face Broward College, with the win IRSC will jump to second place in conference play.
