Indian River goes undefeated at DSC Tournament

On Monday afternoon, Indian River women's basketball team traveled to Daytona State College to face Bryant & Stratton VA. In a highly competitive matchup, The River beat the bobcats 70-51.

Freshmen Breanna Campbell led all scorers with 16 points and four rebounds. Sophomore Loni Sales added 16 points and JeNya Wilder contributed 13 points. Coach Robinson noted, "This afternoon we picked up the intensity defensively only giving up 8 points in the second quarter and 13 in the third quarter. Which allowed us gain a lead; we understand the importance of defending at a high level every time we step on the floor."

In day two of the DSC Classic on Tuesday evening, Indian River upset Daytona State 68-66. In a highly contested match up there were several lead changes and ties. Coach Robinson mentioned, "Tonight's game for us meant a lot because we knew we let one slip away in November. We understand the importance of executing and getting the best shot each possession."

Je'Nya Wilder earned her first double double tonight-scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds. Loni Sales added 15 points and 8 rebounds. Marnicha Prudent added 9 points and 5 rebounds. "Our sophomores are leading us now which gives us more experience to depend on, each game we're working to get better as we prepare for conference play."

Freshmen Breanna Campbell and Maryanne Logsdon added 9 points apiece, Maryanne displayed her floor general abilities tonight having five rebounds, three assist and three steals. Coach Robinson added, "We're a better team when our point guards step up and lead us, Maryanne leadership has been pivotal this season which is one reason we've been successful."

The River return home Friday January 3 at 2pm against number 7th Parkland College from Chicago, Illinois.
