Women's Basketball defeats Top Ten-Ranked Central Florida

Tuesday Night in Fort Pierce, Indian River State College women's basketball played top ten-ranked College of Central Florida. In a highly contested match up, The River found themselves down by 13 early in the fourth quarter and fought back to win in Overtime 93 - 88. With this win Indian River State College has upset Two Top Ten Ranked Program and currently stand 5 - 4 on the season.

The River offensive efforts was at a season best having six athletes score double digits.

Sophomore Je'Nya Wilder led IRSC in scoring with 23 points, seven rebounds, three steals and two assist. Freshmen Jaqarra Phillips continues to be consistent scoring threat scoring 17 points and shooting 50% from beyond the Arc. Sophomore Leah Dunn added 16 points six rebounds, four assist, three steals and two blocks. Breanna Campbell came off the bench to contribute 12 points while going six for six from the free throw line. Starting point guard Maryanne Logsdon scored 11 points, six rebounds, three assist, one steals.  Transfer Sophomore Marnicha Prudent has shown great efforts for The River by making her presence known in the paint, scoring 10 points, six rebounds and two blocks.

Coach Robinson mention, "Coming out of halftime, we knew we needed to defend at a high level in order to win. During the third, we allowed distraction to get us unfocused, which caused us to go into fourth down by 13. We rallied back to tie the game within the last two minutes of regulation forcing an overtime win. Having six players in double digits speaks volume of our team and at any given night anyone can step up."

Following tonight game is Indian River State College is in for a big weekend heading into Juco Shootout against Northwest Florida Friday at 5pm and Florida State College of Jacksonville Saturday at Noon.
