IRSC Women’s Basketball Lose Close Game at Home

On Wednesday evening IRSC Women's Basketball team suffered a 61-53 loss to ASA in a conference home opener. In the first half the river outscored ASA in both quarters before going ice cold from beyond the arc. Coach Robinson noted "in the first half we were more aggressive attacking the basket which opened up things from beyond the arc. In the second half we shot ourselves out of the game when they went into a zone. "Overall I am proud of the way my team fought tonight, we have to do a better job of consistently making shots."

Freshmen shooting guard Mariah Perez lead all scorers with 14 points and 5 rebounds. Mariah has the second highest shooting percentage in the state from beyond the arc, shooting a total of 46.3%.

Sophomore point guard Kiandra Hooks added 11 points, 4 rebounds and 6 steals.

The River drops to 0-2 in conference play and will host Miami Dade at home on January 23rd.
