Women’s Basketball drops conference opener

On Saturday afternoon the River traveled to Palm Beach State College for a conference opener, after plenty lead changes the River lost 60-56. In a game where many positive was displayed the River, overcame a slow start in the first two quarters to outscore the panthers 26-13 in the third quarter. The River created a season high 11 points of Palm Beach turnovers and forced a total of 19 throughout the entire game.

The River has remained consistent with having three or more players in double digits. In our first conference opener freshmen Mariah Perez led all scorers with 18 points, shooting an impressive 67% from behind the arc, going 4 for 6. Mariah also had a career high night in rebounds with a total of 8. Sophomore guard Kiandra Hooks added 11 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assist and 3 steals. Alexis Siler contributed a season high of 10 points and 7 rebounds.

Coach Robinson noted "as a program we have to learn how to put teams away, at the end of the third quarter we went up by 10 points but starting the fourth we came out making mental errors which caused us to play from behind the reminder of the quarter."

The River will be back in action this Wednesday January 16th against ASA Miami, our women's basketball program is looking to earn their first conference win at home.
