Women's Basketball drops two at Florida Juco Shootout

Fort Myers, FL – Indian River State College Women's Basketball program suffers a 84 to 49 lose to number three nationally ranked Gulf Coast on Saturday evening. In the first quarter the river outscored Gulf Coast 15 – 14 before getting outscored 3 to 26. Coach Robinson mentioned "how in the beginning we executed and defend at a high level but came out extremely flat in the second quarter which lead to Gulf Coast taking a 20 point lead going into halftime."

Sophomore Trio Kiandra Hooks lead the river in scoring with 15 points and three steals, while Angelica Flores added 12 points and Kierra Patrick contributed 11 points and 6 rebounds.

Coach Robinson noted "during this weekend I challenged my girls to fight and compete on both sides of the floor, in the gulf coast game we outscored them in two quarters which was a major confidence boaster for us. We're continuing to work on putting a complete game together, for 40 minutes."

In the second matchup The River loss 101 – 46 to top 5 nationally ranked Tallahassee Community College. The River struggled offensively early allowing TCC to take a 48 to 12 lead at halftime, during halftime Coach Robinson stated how "at halftime I challenged my girls to have some pride and compete instead of allowing TCC score at will, in the second half we came out more aggressive and fought hard on both ends of the floor and as a coach that's all I can ask for."

Sophomore Kierra Patrick led the River in scoring with 17 points. IRSC women's basketball program will be back in action Saturday December 8th against Hillsborough Community College.
