Pioneers Advance to the National Championship Title Game
OXFORD, AL- In a nail-biting elimination game of the 2024 World Series, Indian River showcased their defensive prowess and pitching excellence to secure a 2-0 victory over Temple College. With the stakes high and the season on the line, J'dah Girigorie was a force to be reckoned with in the circle, pitching a complete game shutout, striking out six batters, and allowing no walks. The Pioneers' offense made an immediate impact, seizing control in the first inning with a two-run single that set the tone for the rest of the game. Ciara Gendron and Cassidy Patterson were instrumental in the offense, with Gendron going 2-for-3 and driving in both runs for the team.
Defensively, the Pioneers were impeccable, not committing a single error throughout the game and securing a crucial double play. With this win, the Pioneers earned a spot to play for the 2024 NJCAA Division 1 Softball World Series title and will face #1 McLennan tomorrow, May 25th at 3PM EST on ESPN+.
The River will need to beat #1 McLennan twice to win the National Title.
