Indian River Wins 2 More Including Dramatic Walk Off

Indian River (38-10) played on Good Friday (April 7) at Greco Park in Tampa, FL. The first of a double header resulted in a 4-0 shutout victory over Hillsborough College. Dominique Prevette (16-3) notched the W in the circle, throwing five innings, allowing zero runs on just one hit, while striking out eight and walking one.Valerie Martinez and Bridget Dunham (2 RBI) both doubled and Cassidy Patterson stole twice to help pace the offense. 

Game 2 was a back and forth battle with Miami Dade resulting in the 9-7 win for The Pioneers. IRSC jumped out to a first inning 5-0 lead but with Miami closing the gap to 5-4 in the fourth. Indian River added another run in the bottom half, only to see Miami put up 3 unearned runs in sixth, and remaining on top (7-6) heading into the final frame for the Pioneers. Bridget Dunham led off with an all important BB, followed by a FC (Zoe Thornsbury) to move Dunham into scoring position. Cassidy Patterson followed with a long and quality at-bat, eventually drawing another walk. Madison Knight added an infield single to load the bases, bringing up Adrianna Portanova, who belted the very first pitch deep into the right center gap for the come from behind, game winning walk-off double. The win helped widen the gap between the two teams in the Southern conference. Next Up: April 12 @Eastern Florida (4:00pm and 6:00pm).
