Indian River Sweeps Daytona at Home

Game 1 featured a three hit (2 doubles), five RBI day for Freshman 3B Adrianna Portanova. Indian River fired up the offense with 10 runs on 9 hits including multiple hits by (Portanova), Bridget Dunham and Madison Knight. The Pioneers also stole 5 bases in the winning effort. Sophomore Alina Varga earned the victory in the pitcher's circle giving up just one earned run and striking out four.

Game 2 resulted in a 2-0 shutout victory, highlighted by an outstanding complete game performance from pitcher Dominique Prevette. The New York native surrendered zero runs, just two hits and 1 walk in 7 innings of work. She also added 7 strikeouts to her season total (56). Portanova and Dunham again had multiple hits to pace the Indian River offense. The Pioneers play next (Feb 25th) in the Courtney Miller Invitational at Soldiers Creek Park in Longwood, FL. Saturday's matchups include games vs Central Florida @11:00am, St. John's River @1:15pm and vs Santa Fe @3:30pm.
