IRSC Splits with SJRSC

Scorekeepers were kept busy today during a high-scoring contest between St Johns River and Indian River in which the Pioneers fell 11-7 in the first game of a double header in Palatka.

After falling behind 3-0 the Pioneers knotted the game up at three in the top of the third inning. 

St Johns added five more runs to take a commanding lead but the Pioneers answered scoring three runs in the sixth.  Trailing 8-6 Meaghan Branche lined out to the shortstop with the bases loaded to end the Pioneer threat.

Jaden Williamson took the loss for IRSC. The righthander surrendered eight runs on eight hits over four and a third innings, striking out three.

Bridgett Dunham led the offense with two hits in five at bats.

In game two Freshman pitcher Dominique Prevette tossed five innings, allowing two runs on four hits to earn her first win of the season in the Pioneers 10-2 win.

Pioneers shortstop Nikki Luzzi racked up four hits. Luzzi tripled in the second, singled in the third, singled in the fifth, and homered in the sixth.

Second baseman Cassidy Crump added five stolen bases, scored two runs, and had a run batted in for IRSC.

The 8-4 Pioneers travel to Sanford this weekend to take on FSCJ and SCF on Saturday, both games will be played at Soldiers Creek Park.  On Sunday IRSC takes on Chipola College and SPC.
