Indian River Defeats Broward

Indian River State College's women's softball team won both games of a double-header against Broward College yesterday, extending the teams winning streak to 16 games.

In the first game sophomore pitcher Dawn Bodrug was brilliant in the circle, as she threw a no-hitter to lead IRSC past Broward College 8-0.

Indian River secured the victory thanks to eight runs in the fourth inning. Singles by Michalla Reddick, Juliana Speranza, and Brooke Mathews, an RBI fielder's choice by Rachael Samaniego, and a double by Juhle Prange helped propel the Pioneers to victory.

Bodrug (20-6) was the winning pitcher. She allowed zero hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out ten.

Reddick, Speranza, Prange, Mathews, and Brittini Norwood all had big hits to pace the team's offense.

In game two despite seeing its five-run lead whittled down by the end, IRSC still held off Broward College for a 5-3 victory.

IRSC got on the board in the second inning. Michalla Reddick drove in a run to open the games scoring when she singled to leftfield.

Freshman Hailey Astill (8-3) was the winning pitcher. She went five and two-thirds innings, allowing two runs on four hits and striking out one. Dawn Bodrug threw one and one-third innings in relief out of the bullpen. Bodrug recorded the last four outs to earn her second save on the season.

The Pioneers racked up 12 hits in the game. Mya Maddox and Juhle Prange all managed multiple hits. Maddox led the team with three hits in four at bats.

The 32-13 Pioneers next take on Palm Beach State on Monday in Lake Worth. Game times are 5:00 & 7:00.
