In the first game on Sunday Juliana Speranza drove in four on two hits to lead the Pioneers past Broward College 9-4. Speranza drove in runs on a double in the third, a home run in the sixth, and a walk in the seventh.
Dawn Bodrug got the win. She lasted five and a third innings, allowing four hits and two runs while striking out eight. Hailey Astill threw one and one-third innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Indian River racked up nine hits. Speranza and Madison Headley had two hits each to lead the offense.
In the team's final game of the weekend IRSC lost the lead late in a 9-8 extra inning defeat to Miami Dade College. IRSC lost despite out-hitting Miami Dade College 14 to 9. The Pioneers hit two home runs on the day. Juhle Prange went deep in the third inning, Juliana Speranza continued her torrid weekend with a blast in the ninth inning. Brittini Norwood, Rachael Samaniego, Mya Maddox, Prange, Speranza, and Taylor Dyal all had multiple hits for IRSC. Norwood led the way with three hits in five at bats.
The Pioneers return to action on Friday, March 22 taking on Iowa Western in Ft. Pierce.
