Indian River Sweeps Palm Beach

 An early lead helped IRSC defeat Palm Beach State 8-1 on Wednesday afternoon in the first game of a double header in Ft. Pierce. Indian River struck early on a walk by Savannah Julylia, a single by Danielle Bieberle, and a walk by Dream Aaron in the second inning. The Pioneers secured the victory thanks to five runs in the second inning. The offensive firepower was led by Julylia, Bieberle, Aaron, and Crystal Grimaldo, who all drove in runs. Freshman pitcher Liz Gollin (17-3) earned the victory. She surrendered one run on three hits over four innings, striking out four. Valerie Alvarado threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen. Alvarado recorded the last nine outs to earn the save. Adriana Otero hit a homerun in the third inning, Juliana Speranza added a homer in the fifth inning. Otero went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead "The River" in hits.

Game 2    IRSC 6 PBSC 0

In game two IRSC defeated Palm Beach State 6-0 as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. IRSC fired up the offense in the first inning. Dream Aaron's 1st inning sac fly scored the game's first run. IRSC added to its lead scoring three runs in the fifth inning. The offensive onslaught was led by Taylor Strickland, Savannah Julylia, and Crystal Grimaldo, all driving in runs in the inning. Freshman pitcher Dawn Bodrug earned her 10th win on the season in the victory. She surrendered zero runs on four hits over six innings, striking out eight. Valerie Alvarado threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. The Pioneers return to action on Wednesday April 11th taking on Eastern Florida.  The 37-11 Pioneers can clinch the Southern Conference championship with a win against Eastern Florida.
