Indian River Remains Perfect in Conference Play

Game 1 IRSC 11 Palm Beach 0

Indian River State College's women's softball team won both games of a double-header against Palm Beach State on Wednesday night in Lake Worth.  IRSC freshmen pitchers Elizabeth Gollin and Dawn Bodrug both tossed complete game shutouts. In game one the Pioneer offense secured the victory thanks to seven runs in the fifth inning. Taylor Strickland, Morgan Greco, Danielle Bieberle, Dream Aaron, and Crystal Grimaldo each drove in runs during the inning. The rally was led by home runs by Aaron and Grimaldo, run scoring singles by Greco and Bieberle, and a double by StricklandGollin raised her season record to 14-3, she surrendered zero runs on four hits over five innings, striking out five.

Game 2 - IRSC 16 Palm Beach 0

In game two Dawn Bodrug didn't allow a single hit as the Pioneers cruised to a 16-0 victory.  Bodrug closed out the game by striking out the side in her last inning of work. Once again the Pionner offense put up a big run scoring inning scoring 12 runs in the top of the 6th to secure the victory. The rally was led by singles by Jaden Kline, Korie Corral, Brittini Norwood, Dream Aaron, and Crystal Grimaldo, walks by Grimaldo and Juliana Speranza, and a double by Danielle BieberleThe Pioneers totaled 15 hits. Bieberle, Corral, Speranza, and Aaron each racked up multiple hits for Indian River. Bieberle went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the team in hits. 

With the two wins the #7 nationally ranked Pioneers raise their season record to 30-10 and 8-0 in conference play. The team return to action on Saturday in Ft. Pierce taking on Southern Conference rival Eastern Florida.  Game one begins at 1:00 with game two scheduled to begin at 3:00pm.
