Indian River splits with Daytona State

After dropping a double header to Florida Southwestern the Pioneers returned to action splitting a double-header with Daytona State College Tuesday night at Daytona.  In the split against the Falcons IRSC won game 1 (13-1) and dropped game 2 (6-3.) 

In the 13-1 victory Taylor Strickland came to ballpark and meant business, tallying four hits and leading the Pioneer offense to victory. Strickland singled in the second, doubled in the third, tripled in the fourth, and singled in the fifth. IRSC opened up scoring in the first inning. Crystal Grimaldo doubled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run. IRSC tallied five more runs in the fourth inning. The rally was led by Strickland's bases clearing triple and a double by Adriana Otero. Freshman Dawn Bodrug toed the rubber for IRSC surrendering one run on five hits over five innings, striking out five. IIRSC tallied 14 hits. Strickland, Michalyn Bingham, Savannah Julylia, and Dream Aaron each collected multipole hits.

In the game two loss IRSC watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in the 6-3 loss. Liz Gollin (10-3) took the loss. Valerie Alvarado threw six innings in relief out of the bullpen. Dream Aaron, Jaden Kline, and Adriana Otero all had hits for The River.

IRSC (21-9) returns to action opening defense of their Southern Conference Championship against Broward College.  Game times in Ft. Pierce at 2:00 and 4:00.
