Indian River State College Softball sweeps South Florida State College 8-0 and 10-2 on Thursday in Ft. Pierce.

In the 8-0 win two IRSC pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Freshman Elizabeth Gollin and sophomore Valerie Alvarado didn't allow a run in their five innings of work in the circle for the Pioneers.

 

Offensively the Pioneers secured the victory thanks to five runs in the second inning. IRSC batters contributing to the big inning included Dream Aaron, Taylor Strickland, and Morgan Greco, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Liz Gollin (3-0) earned the victory on the pitcher's mound for "The River." Gollin tossed the first four inning innings allowing two hits and zero runs while striking out five. Alvarado threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

IRSC  launched two home runs on the day. Strickland had a homer in the second inning. Aaron went for the long ball in the second inning.

The Lady Pioneers racked up ten hits on the day. Adriana Otero, Jaden Kline, and Aaron each racked up multiple hits for Indian River State College Pioneers Varsity. Aaron, Kline, and Otero each managed two hits to lead IRSC.

 

In the second game of the day IRSC struck for six runs in the first two innings in the 10-2 win.

Freshman Dawn Bodrug (2-0) got the start for the River.  Bodrug allowed one unearned on four hits over four innings, striking out four and walking zero.

The Pioneers racked up ten hits. Korie Corral and Michalyn Bingham each had two hits to lead the Pioneers offense.  Dream Aaron belted her second home run on the day, her state leading 4th on the season. IRSC was also sure-handed on defense, not committing a single error.

IRSC (7-0) returns to action on Friday against #3 nationally ranked Florida Southwestern.  Game one the double-header in Ft. Pierce begins at 1:00pm, game 2 is scheduled to begin at 3:00pm.
