IRSC Swimming and Diving competes Against Nova Southeastern University (Men and Women), and Florida International University (Women)

The Indian River swimming and diving teams hosted the men's and women's team from Nova Southeastern, and the women's team from Florida International University on Friday November 2, 2018 at the main campus of IRSC.

The women's competition was considered a "double dual" in which scoring was done separately with each team (IRSC versus Nova, IRSC versus FIU, and Nova versus FIU). FIU proved to be the strongest team on the afternoon having beat both IRSC and Nova, but it was a close competition between NOVA and IRSC throughout the afternoon. Event wins came from Elianna Kennon in the 50 and 100 free, and also from Sophia Diagne in the 100 fly. Keeping the competition close, IRSC's women also were able to defeat Nova in 5 other events which included the 100 and 200 Breast, and 400 IM (Savanna Best), the 200 fly (Camryn Hudson), and the 200 back (Sule van der Merwe). The deciding event came down to the final relay where the winner between Nova and IRSC would win that competition. Unfortunately for IRSC, they placed third behind FIU and Nova narrowly be defeated.

In the men's competition, IRSC managed to secure the meet victory with wins in 11 of the 14 events, 8 of which also had a second place finish. These event wins came from the 200 medley relay (Jarryd Baxter, Olle Williamsson, Ruben van Leeuwen, and Ryen van Wyk), and the 200 free relay (van Leeuwen, van Wyk, Josh Stegan, and Jared Ingram). In the individual events, event wins came from Ruben van Leeuwen (200 free and 100 fly), Jarryd Baxter (100/200 back, and 400 IM), Olle Williamsson (100 and 200 breast), Ryen van Wyk (50 free), and Josh Stegen (100 free).

Final team scores,

Women: IRSC 125 - Nova 137, IRSC 106 - FIU 192

Men: IRSC 170 - Nova 92

IRSC will now travel to Florida Institute of Technology on Friday November 9 with competition beginning at 1pm.
