IRSC Swimming and Diving Versus Florida Atlantic University

The IRSC swimming and diving teams travelled to Boca Raton on October 27th to compete in their first one on one college dual meet of the 2017-18 season against Florida Atlantic University.

It was a good day for the team despite coming away with a loss on the women's side as the young team with 12 freshmen women were able to win 8 of the 16 events contested. Leading the way was Courtney Perrett who won the 100 breaststroke, 100 freestyle, and was part of the winning 200 medley relay (with Courtney Stewart, Sopia Diagne, and Malin Wallen) and 400 freestyle relay (with Sophia Diagne, Elianna Kennon, and Elizabeth Watts). Other event winners were Elizabeth Watts in the 200 free, Courtney Stewart in the 200 back, Olivia Berglund in the 200 breast, and Sophia Diagne  in the 100 fly.

The men's competition saw IRSC come away with the victory having won 9 of the 16 events. Those wins came from the 200 medley relay of Ruben van Leeuwen, Christian Nishimura, Ryen van Wyk, and Kevin Bargate), 200 free and 200 back (Luka Tomic), 100 back and 100 fly (van Leeuwen), and 50 and 100 free (van Wyk). Kevin Bargate tied for first in the 200 free and won the 500 free, Christian Nishimura (200 breast), and the 400 free relay of Guillaume Bolivard, van Wyk, Bargate, and Tomic).

Men final team score: IRSC 168 – FAU 130
