River Rolls Back into Top 25

River Rolls Back into Top 25

FORT PIERCE, FL – Monday, March 4, Indian River State College (IRSC) Men's Basketball moved back in to the NJCAA Top 25 rankings coming in at #23 this week. The ranking comes after the Pioneers pushed their Region VIII leading winning streak to eight games with wins against Polk State College, Florida Southwestern, and Santa Fe College. IRSC was ranked as high as 20th in the National Rankings in mid January but fell out of the Top 25 after a loss to #12 Eastern Florida in Melbourne on January 17th. After a long slow climb that included four wins against Top 25 teams including revenge victories over Eastern Florida and Florida Southwestern, IRSC finally gained the momentum it needed to break back in.

"I definitely feel like this day had been coming for some time. Our guys have been playing some of the best basketball in the country. Our current winning streak and quality of wins show that," said Head Coach Bill Morosco. "Our team is playing extremely hard right now, they're connected, they're bought in and they believe in each other which is something every coach wants to see."

IRSC was also ranked #20 in the NJCAA Media Poll and #24 in the JUCO Hoop Scoop Poll.

You can catch Indian River as they start their post season play in the Region VIII Tournament in Niceville, Florida on March 13th.
