Indian River Men's Basketball season came to an end in the first round of the Region VIII Tournament with a one-point loss to Northwest Florida State. The Pioneers got off to a slow start and found themselves trailing by 14 at the half. They came storming back in the second half and were down 7 with 28 seconds left, cutting the lead to 1 before time expired. Sophomore Guard Micah Octave led the way for the Pioneers with a game high 30 points, making 6 3s, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 6 steals. Sophomore Pablo Tamba scored 23 points off the bench shooting (7-12 FG) while grabbing 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals. Jyre Mccloud and Antoine Jacks were the other Pioneers to score in double figures, Mccloud scored 18 on (8-10 FG) with 3 rebounds and 2 steals. Jacks scored 13 points and dished out 7 assists. Northwest Florida State was led by Chad baker-Mazara who scored 28 points on 6 made 3s. Coach Morosco's thoughts on the game "Northwest Florida is a very talented team, and one of the best in the country for a reason. I am proud of the fight our guys showed, the score did not matter they continued to fight every possession and unfortunately we came up short in a hard fought game."
