#7IRSC Defeats State College of Florida Manatee/Sarasota

Bradenton, Florida – A balanced scoring attack led #7 Indian River State College (IRSC) over State College of Florida Manatee/Sarasota 88-78.  Five members of IRSC's team scored in double figures with Tyeree Bryan leading the way with 19 points. 

The Pioneers had a slow start on the offense end of the floor and were behind 9-4 with just under five minutes played in the contest.  IRSC came back strong and took a 10-point advantage when Doug Young connected on a three-point basket making the score 19-9.  Both teams continued to trade baskets and the Pioneers were ahead 43-32 at the half.

IRSC built a 20-point lead with just under seven minutes to play in the second half, 72-52.  Manatee kept the game close and pulled to within 10 points, but could get no closer as the Pioneers went on to a 88-78 victory and increased their record to 17-2 on the year and 2-0 in the Southern Conference. 

Leading scorers for the ballgame were Bryan 19, Young 15, Jonathan Cisse 15, Bendji Pierre 14, and A.J. Cajuste with 12 points.  IRSC did a great job on the rebounding side of things out rebounding Manatee 46-32.  Pierre pulled in 14 rebounds followed by Bryan with 13.  Cajuste also notched a double-double with Bryan and Pierre by dishing out 12 assists. 

The Pioneers will travel to Miami, Florida on Wednesday January 19th to take on Miami Dade College.  Game time will be a 7:30 pm. following the women's game.
