Central Florida Defeats IRSC
Fort Pierce, Florida – The Indian River State College (IRSC) Men's Basketball Team got off to a slow start against Central Florida on Tuesday night and were never fully able to recover. The Pioneers found themselves down 7-0 in the early part of the game and 23-8 with just under 13 minutes to go in the contest. IRSC kept attacking the basket and closed the half down 53-44.
IRSC keep the score close in the second half and kept the margin to single digits, but were never able to take the lead, eventually losing 89-80. Central Florida shot 53% from the field while the Pioneers were only able to connect at 44%. Central Florida's quickness and length were an issue throughout the game, they forced IRSC into 20 turnovers and outrebounded them by 37-31.
The Pioneers were led in scoring by Miles Coleman with 21, Jai Clark 12, Drew LaMont 12, and DeJuan Lockett with 10 points. Lockett also pulled in 5 rebounds. The loss dropped IRSC's record to 3-2 on the season. They will be in action on Saturday, November 16th at 2 p.m. when they travel to Winter Haven, Florida, to take on Polk State College.
