Men Score 131 Points in Win Over DME Academy

Ocala, Florida – Offense was not an issues for Indian River State College (IRSC) Men's Basketball team as they scored 131 points in their win over DME Academy at the College of Central Florida Thanksgiving Tournament.  The Pioneers defeated DME Academy by a score of 131-65, one of their highest totals in recent years.  IRSC shot 65% from the field and 53% from beyond the 3-point line, some of their highest percentages on the young season. 

IRSC took an early 22 point lead with 11:19 to go in the first half on a slam dunk by Chris McCray with the nice assist coming from Kahleel Ellis-Garcia. The lead grew to 47 as the Pioneers went into the half up 70-23.  The offense didn't slow much in the second half, with all 11 members of the team seeing considerable playing time. "It was good to see several of our young players play extended minutes in the game", pointed out IRSC Head Coach Charlie Wilson.  IRSC saw 5 team members score double digits, and all 11 players dressed for the contest got their name in the scoring column.  Leading scorers for the River were Kimani Binder with 28, Jai Clark 21, Kahleel Ellis-Garcia 14, DeJuan Lockett 14, and Chris McCray also added 14 points. Eddie Williams, who missed the first part of the season due to an injury, saw his first action as a Pioneer as he connected on three 3-point field goals.  The win moves the Pioneers record to 7-1.

IRSC will have a much tougher contest on Saturday when they take on the host team of the tournament the number 7^th ranked team in the state, College of Central Florida.  The game will start at 6 p.m.
