IRSC Men’s Basketball Team Move to 6-1

Lake City, Florida-The Pioneers were able to get their offensive production back to normal with a 96-63 win over Gateway College.  IRSC had been averaging over 100 points per game before losing on the road to State Florida College of Jacksonville, 60-56.  It was a much different team on Saturday as they converted on 34-69 shots from the floor for 49% and 10-22 from the 3 point range for 45%.  The team came out more focus and gained a ten point lead with 10:56 to go in the first half on a Jai Clark 3-point basket, 23-13. They continued their offensive outburst and led 47-26 at the half.  IRSC built the lead to 30, 74-44, on a nifty lay-up by Kimani Binder.  All eleven members of the Pioneer team got on the scoreboard in the 96-63 victory.  "We shot the ball much better today, but we still have a long way to go offensively," stated IRSC Head Coach Charlie Wilson.  IRSC did a better job of taking care of the basketball, limiting their turnover to 14 compared to 22 against State Florida College of Jacksonville.

Leading scorers for "The River" were Kahleel Ellis-Garcia with 20 points, Jai Clark 19, Kimani Binder 15, Charlie Daniels 12, and DeJuan Lockett added 10.  The Pioneers also dominated the glass by out rebounding Gateway 55-28.  DeJuan Lockett led the team with 15 rebounds and Charlie Daniels also pulled in 10.  Jai Clark dished out 5 assists in the win.

IRSC will participate in the Thanksgiving Shootaround sponsored by College of Central Florida this weekend in Ocala, Florida. On Friday November 23 the Pioneers will take on DME, and on Saturday they will be in action against the host team College of Central Florida.  Both games begin at 6 p.m.
