The IRSC Men Win Two Games at the Veterans Classic

Fort Pierce, FL - The Indian River State College (IRSC) Men's Basketball Team won two games during the 3rd Annual IRSC Men's Basketball Veterans Classic which was sponsored by The Van Duzer Foundation.  The Pioneers defeated Keiser University Junior Varsity on Friday night 105-58.  IRSC held a 50-37 halftime lead, but picked up their defensive intensity holding Keiser to 21 points in the second half, and cruised on to a 47 point victory.  Leading scorers for the contest were Kimani Binder 17 points, followed by Josh Lewis with 16 and 15 rebounds, Chris McCray 14, Tadre Morse 14, D.J. Winston 12, and Kahleel Ellis-Garcia added 10.  

On Saturday night IRSC faced off against Florida National JV and won the contest 110-73.  Chris McCray had a big night for the Pioneers leading the team in scoring with 26 points.  Also scoring in double figures for IRSC were Jai Clark 23, Kimani Binder 13, Kahleel Ellis-Garcia 13, D.J. Winston 11, Tadre Morse 11, and Marc Syle added 10.  McCray and Syle combined for 27 of the teams 55 rebounds.  The win moved the Pioneers' record to 5-0.

The IRSC Men's Basketball Veterans Classic was established to recognize local Veterans for their service, "We think it is important to recognize Veterans for the sacrifices they have made for our country," stated Coach Charlie Wilson.  Veterans who were in attendance Friday evening were recognized for their service during halftime of the game.  The IRSC Men's Team showed their appreciation for their service and shook each veterans' hand who were in attendance. "We appreciate all Veterans who attended the games this weekend and everyone who contributed to The Warrior Center," commented IRSC Head Coach Charlie Wilson.

Coach Wilson also wanted to personally thank the Van Duzer Foundation for sponsoring the tournament, "We really appreciate the support we receive from the Van Duzer Foundation, they do a great job of taking care of the teams and supporting a great cause."  All proceeds from the tournament will be donated to The Warrior Center.

The Pioneers will be in action at Jacksonville FL on Tuesday November 13th for a 7:30 p.m. start as they take on Florida State College-Jacksonville.
