IRSC Mens Basketball Upset Manatee on the Road

Bradenton, FL – Wins on the road are always tough to come by, and Tuesday night's game at State College of Florida-Manatee was no exception.  The Indian River State College (IRSC) Men's Basketball Team had to fight their way back from a 13 point deficit in the second half to win 88-81.The Pioneers finally pulled ahead on a made 3-pointer by D.J. Winston with 8:57 remaining in the game and never relinquished the lead for the remainder of the contest.  "I was disappointed in our defense performance, but we continued to fight and found a way to win on the road," stated IRSC Head Coach Charlie Wilson.  The win moved the Pioneers' record to 3-0 on the season.

Sophomore shooting guard Kimani Binder had another big night for IRSC scoring 29 points on 10-15 shooting.  Binder also led the team with 6 of the Pioneers 15 assist.  Other double digit scorers were Jai Clark with 16, Kahleel Ellis-Garcia 15, and Charlie Daniels added 13 points.  IRSC outrebounded Manatee by 10, 40 to 30, with Daniels and Ellis-Garcia combining for 17 rebounds. 

The Indian River State College (IRSC) Men's Basketball Team will be in action at Fort Peirce this weekend for the 3rd Annual IRSC Men's Basketball Veterans Classic which was sponsored by The Van Duzer Foundation. The IRSC Men's Basketball Veterans Classic was established as an opportunity to recognize local Veterans for their service, "We have had outstanding support for this event which has allowed us to support several local Veterans organizations," stated Coach Charlie Wilson.  Veterans who are in attendance Friday evening will be recognized for their service between games.  All proceeds collected over the two day tournament will be donated to local Veteran organizations.
