Indian River Men's Basketball defeats Santa Fe

Fort Peirce, FL - The Indian River State College (IRSC) Men's Basketball Team defeated Santa Fe College 80-72.  The game had several lead changes before the Pioneers took control in the final minutes of the game.  IRSC jumped out to an early 23-12 mark, but Santa Fe came storming back and took a 41-36 lead into the half. Santa Fe built up a 13 point margin in the second half, but the Pioneers would not give up. Sophomore shooting guard Kimani Binder played a big part in the second half surge by scoring twelve of his 17 points in the second half.  "Our guys found a way to win today, and I am proud of them for their effort," stated IRSC Head Coach Charlie Wilson. Scoring leaders for "The River" were Binder 17, Kahleel Ellis-Garcia 16, and DeJuan Lockett added 14 points.  The Pioneers out rebounded Santa Fe by 10, 42-32.  Binder pulled in 7 rebounds, followed by Josh Lewis with 6.  Micah Johnson had a solid game for IRSC with 5 assists, 5 steals, and 9 points. 

The Pioneers will be in action this Tuesday as they travel to Bradenton Florida to take on State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota for a 7 p.m. tip-off.
