IRSC Men Lose To Central Florida

Indian River State College (IRSC) Men's Basketball Team dropped a heartbreaker to College of Central Florida 77-76. 

The game saw 10 lead changes in the first half with neither team being able to take control.  The score was tied 31-31 with 7:11 left to go in the game, but the Pioneers took a slight edge into half time with the score 40-36.  IRSC scored the first points of the second half, but found themselves behind 49-52 with 12:01 left in the contest.  Central Florida went on a slight run building their biggest lead of the game 58-51.  The Pioneers continued to claw their way back into the game and took the lead on a deep 3-point basket by shooting guard Cedric Jackson 66-64 with 5:06 remaining.  IRSC's starting point guard Anthony Brown fouled out of the contest with 1:16 to go which proved to be a critical point of the game for the Pioneers.  Forward Justin Tucker converted two free-throws for IRSC to give them a 76-72 lead with 49 seconds left Central Florida hit a three pointer to cut the lead to 1 with 30 seconds left on the clock.  A crucial turnover gave Central Florida one more shot for the win and they converted on a tip-in with 2.3 seconds remaining for the win.  The loss drops IRSC's record to 9-2 on the season.  Cedric Jackson had another big night scoring 31 points and grapping 5 rebounds.  Anthony Brown had another solid performance adding 12 points and six assist followed by Justin Tucker with 10 points. 

The next action for the Pioneers will be at home on Saturday, December 2nd when they take on State College of Florida-Manatee for a 2 p.m. tip.
