Pioneers Lose To Palm Beach

In a game that saw several runs, the Indian River State men's basketball team came up short against Palm Beach State College, 68-66.

Palm Beach State took the early 9-6 lead, but saw IRSC take a 17-13 lead at the 10 minute mark and go into the half with a 33-25 lead.  The Pioneers came out flat after the half, and Palm Beach State took advantage and gained a 10 point lead with under 6 minutes to go in the game.  IRSC fought their way back into the game and took a three-point lead on a Justin Tucker slam dunk with 10.3 seconds remaining, but things went downhill from there.  The Pioneers fouled Palm Beach State on a three-point attempt and they converted all three free-throws to tie the game at 66 with 3.2 seconds remaining.  Palm Beach State then stole the inbounds pass and took a deep three in the corner which was long, but they tipped in the miss for the win at the buzzer.

The loss dropped the Pioneers record to 21-7 overall and 8-2 in the Southern Conference.  IRSC will travel to Florida Memorial University on Saturday the 24th where they will take on ASA at 12 p.m.
