Pioneers Beat ASA 116-78

The Pioneers scored 116 points on Friday night as they defeated ASA 116-78 for their 16th win of the season.

Indian River got off to a fast start building a 20 point lead at the 9:13 mark and ended the half with a 62-36 lead. Freshmen forward Charlie Daniels had a nice first half for IRSC as he scored 10 of his career high 12 points on 6 of 6 shooting.  The Pioneers did not let up in the second half as they increased the lead to 72-39 with 15:32 to go in the ballgame.

The final of 116-78 was IRSC's second highest point total on the year.  "We did a solid job of rebounding and sharing the basketball," stated IRSC Head Coach Charlie Wilson.  The Pioneers out rebounded ASA 56-21 with Cedric Jackson and Justin Tucker both pulling in 10 rebounds for the contest.  Deontae Weaver and Anthony Brown combined for 17 of IRSC's 30 assists on the evening tying their season high.  Double digit scorers were Cedric Jackson 25 points, Deontae Weaver 24, Anthony Brown 19, Justin Tucker 14, Charlie Daniels and Kimani Binder with 12.  The next action for IRSC will be January 23rd at home when they match up against Broward for a 7 p.m. tip.
