IRSC Men Ranked 7th In The Latest NJCAA Region 8 Basketball Poll And Move Their Record to 8-1

Indian River State College men's basketball Team moved their record to 8-1 winning over Webber International's JV team with a score of 109-79.  Early foul trouble and turnovers kept the game close with IRSC leading 63-44 at the half.  "We weren't ready to play at the start of the game, and we made several careless mistakes," commented Head Coach Charlie Wilson.  Webber International narrowed the score even more in the second half and closed the gap to under double digits before the Pioneers caught fire and finished with 109 points.  Leading scorers for IRSC were Shaq Rombley with 22, Deontae Weaver 20, Kimani Binder 17, Anthony Brown 13, and Justin Tucker added 12.  The Pioneers dominated the rebounds pulling in 57 total rebounds compared to Webber International with 26.  Shaq Rombley pulled in 16 rebounds for IRSC which was new career high.  Rombley wasn't the only IRSC player to record a new personal best; Anthony Brown dished out 15 assists on the evening. 

The Pioneers came in ranked 7th in National Junior College Athletic Association Region 8 Men's Basketball Poll for November 21st.  Northwest Florida State held down the top spot in the poll followed by Chipola, Tallahassee, Eastern Florida State, Florida Southwestern, Central Florida and IRSC at 7th, with Daytona State, Gulf Coast State and St Petersburg rounding out the top ten.  This was the third consecutive poll the Pioneers found themselves in the top 10.  IRSC will start a three game home stand when they take on Santa Fe College on Monday, November 27th for a 5:30 pm start.
