Indian River State College Men’s Basketball Move to 2-0 .

The Indian River State College (IRSC) Men's Basketball Team got their second win of the season with a 78-60 win over Polk State College.  The Pioneers built a 24-13 lead with 8:24 to go in the first half and led by 10 points at the half, 40-30.  IRSC came out sluggish in the second half and let the lead slip to 42-37 with 15:13 left in the second half.  "We came out of the half with no energy and let them build up some momentum," stated Head Coach Charlie Wilson.  The Pioneers built the lead back up to double digits several times in the second half, but allowed Polk State to cut the margin to 4 with 6:40 left in the game, 59-55.  Shaq Rombley slammed in a missed shot and pushed the lead back to 61-55 and that was as close as the score would get with IRSC taking the victory.

Coach Wilson was pleased with how his team finished the game, "We pulled together late and got the shots we needed to win the game."  "We did a solid job from the free-throw line hitting 27-32 and that allowed us to control the lead."   Cedric Jackson had a big game for The River with 23 points and 10 rebounds.  Point guard Anthony Brown was second in scoring with sixteen but made 8 of 10 from the free-throw line and dished out 4 assist.

The IRSC Men's Basketball Team will be in action again on November 7th when they travel Bradenton Florida to take on State College of Florida-Manatee at 7 p.m.
