Indian River State College Men’s Basketball Team Scores 119 Points in Season Debut

The Indian River State College (IRSC) Men's Basketball Team won their season opening game over Ave Maria Junior Varsity 119-60.  The Pioneers took a 25-11 lead with 11:26 and went to half time with a 74-23 lead.  The Pioneers took control early in the second half and cruised to a 59 point win. "Our defense was very active in the first half, and we were able to get our hands on several passes", stated Head Coach Charlie Wilson.  Indian River recorded 27 deflections in the game.  

IRSC had seven players in double figures with Justin Tucker leading the way with 15 points, followed by Cedric Jackson 14 points, Deontae Weaver 13, Jelani Rogers 13, D.J. Winston 13, Shaq Rombley 12, and Anthony Brown with 10 points.  The Pioneers had 25 assists in the contest led by Brown with 7.  IRSC controlled the rebounding aspect of the game with a rebounding margin of 32.  The Pioneers pulled down 57 rebounds and were led by Tucker with 8.    

IRSC (1-0 on the season) will host Polk State College on Saturday, November the 4th for a 4 p.m. tip-off.
