Indian River State College Men’s Basketball Team Loses at Broward College

The Pioneers stayed close early with the game being tied 38-38 at the half, but IRSC had difficulty taking care of the basketball committing 21 turnovers for the game. Broward capitalized on those turnovers converting them into 20 easy points.  "We had too many careless passes, and we were not strong with the basketball," explained Head Coach Charlie Wilson.

Broward played a very physical style of defense which seemed to bother the Pioneers only allowing them to score 29 points in the second half. IRSC had several defensive stops early in the game but couldn't covert on the offensive end of the floor.  The Pioneers did a decent job in the rebounding department edging Broward 44-41.

The loss dropped IRSC's record to 14-6 and 5-2 in the conference. The Pioneers were led in scoring by 6'4" sophomore guard Shaun Willett (Palm Bay, FL) with 15 points and 6'6" sophomore guard Willy Nunez (Orlando, FL) added 12.  The Pioneers will take the court again on January 28th at 4 p.m. for a home contest with Miami Dade.
