Pioneers Upset # 9 ranked FSW

In a three-game series, the Pioneers bounced back to defeat FSW in a highly contested matchup to advance to the Region 8 Final Four.

In the first game, FSW beat the Pioneers 7 – 0. Indian River watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover. Coach Torre mentioned "we struggled putting runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Florida Southwest, giving up seven runs".

With the loss, the Pioneers are looking to bounce back in the next game on Saturday.

In the second matchup, the Pioneers defeated FSW 4 – 3 tying the series up at 1-1.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Indian River tied things up at three when Cameron Carroll singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run.

The Pioneers pulled away for good with one run in the fifth inning.  In the fifth David Hernandez singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.

Indian River State Pioneers notched three runs in the fourth inning.  The offensive onslaught came from singles by C Gonzalez and Carroll.

Khaden Washington earned the victory on the mound for The River. The pitcher surrendered three runs on three hits over five innings, striking out four.  CJ Williams threw four innings in relief out of the bullpen.

With the win, the Pioneers defeated FSW 4 – 3 in the final game of the serious. Allowing the River to advance to the Final Four for the first time in over a decade.
