Indian River State Baseball Opens Season with 4-3 Win

IRSC opened the 2019 season splitting two games in Clearwater. In the opening game the Pioneers defeated St. Pete 4-3 but lost the second game of the weekend 10-6 to College of Central Florida.

On Friday IRSC pitcher Christian O'Kelly went three and two-thirds innings, allowing one run on two hits and striking out one.

Cole Brutcher went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Indian River in hits.

On Saturday against CCF the Pioneers fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 10-6 loss.

Indian River put up four runs in the sixth inning. Levi Aguila, Carter Chancey, and Josh Shrouder all drove in runs in the frame.

Zachary Audet was on the pitcher's mound for IRSC. He went three innings, allowing two runs on three hits and striking out two. Christopher Astoske and Ryan Benson entered the game in relief, throwing two and two-thirds innings and two and a third innings respectively.

The Pioneers racked up nine hits on the day. Chancey, Jackson Muldowney, and Shrouder all managed multiple hits for IRSC. Shrouder, Muldowney, and Chancey each had two hits to pace the offense.

IRSC (1-1) will play Daytona Beach State on 1-30-19 in the team's home opener. Game time in Ft. Pierce is 2:00pm.
