IRSC Bounces Back Nicely with a Strong Showing

The River showed tremendous resiliency as they bounced back to earn a 6-2 win over Kirkwood Community College on Monday.  Michael Stovman set the tone for the week with his strong starting performance on the mound.  Stovman went 5.2 innings allowing 2 runs and striking out 4 Kirkwood batters on his way to his 3rd win of the year.  Zach Audet threw 1.2 innings while striking out 2 and allowing 0 runs in his outing.  Audet has yet to allow an earned run in 6 appearances so far this season.  Christian O'Kelly earned his 2nd save of the season by pitching the final 1.2 innings for the Pioneers.

Carter Chancey was the catalyst for The River offense on Monday afternoon.  Chancey went 2-3 on the day and lead the team in RBI's with 2.  Paul Benitez and Axel Salgado both did their parts offensively as Benitez had 2 hits including a double and a stolen base, and Salgado drove in a run.  The River will look to build on this win in their next matchup on Wednesday against Miami Dade.
