IRSC loses a nail biter in the 10th
Indian River State College baseball couldn't will their way to victory against Broward College on Saturday afternoon, as they lost a heartbreaker 6-5 in the 10th inning.
The River put up 5 runs in the first 4 innings to take a lead early against Broward. Niels Stone held Broward in check for 6 innings by only allowing 1 run. Heading into the 8th inning with a lead of 5-1, the Pioneers were in control of the game. Broward College capitalized on a few Pioneer mistakes and quickly tied the game back up 5-5. The game remained tied until the top of the 10th inning when Abdel Guadalupe hit an RBI double on the first pitch he saw to give Broward a 6-5 lead and eventually, a win over The River.
Cole Brutcher and JD Stubbs led the offense for IRSC by both collecting 2 hits. Diego Ramos, Danny Camilo, Brett Mercier, and AJ Hrica all had 1 RBI apiece. The River will look to rebound in conference this week against Eastern Florida State College. The 1st game will be at home on Wednesday at 2 PM.
